What is it used for?
In its pill form, selegiline is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. It is most often used an adjunct to drugs such as L-DOPA, although it has been used off-label as a solo treatment.
How is it given?
The recommended regimen for the administration of Deprenyl (selegiline hcl) is 10 mg per day administered as divided doses of 5 mg each taken at breakfast and lunch.
What are the common side effects?
Nausea, hallucinations, confusion, depression, loss of balance, insomnia, increased involuntary movements, agitation, slow or irregular heart rate, delusions, hypertension, new or increased angina pectoris, and syncope.
