Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) figures prominently in maintaining youthful levels of cellular energy metabolish and the synthesis and regulation of certain amino acids and proteins. Research has shown that ALC protects nerve cells, regulates cortisol levels and can promote repair of damaged nerve tissue. The University of California has patented the use of the combination of Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Acetyl-L-Carnitine to rejuvenate cells. This was based on a February 2002 U of C Berkeley study Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Acetyl-L-Carnitine, New evidence for rejuvenation potential .

Dosage: 500mg to 2000mg daily.
Precautions: May have a stimulating effect and should not be taken late in the day. Could cause stomach upset or heartburn in some persons. An antacid taken at the same time may prevent this.
